The International Conference on WELDS, June 24–26, 2009 is to be held in Sanibel, Fort Myers, FL, USA.

The Guest editor of this special issue is Dr Bilal Dogan of EPRI,  Charlotte, NC, USA.

The articles include a description of commonly used small creep specimen types and test methods. The performances of these test types are compared and their relative advantages and disadvantages, for specific practical applications, are assessed. Possible future exploitation of the small specimen test techniques is briefly addressed.

Another article draws conclusions on the performance of the welded joints, and makes recommendations for further work and possible application within the power industry.
